blog 2014/08/28 - edging on the details
Almost the peak: http://thetastates.com/mp3s/blog/blog20140828.zip
A Shoreline Dream - The Heart Never Recovered: Float on the janglepop express on the new album The Silent Sunrise.
A Sunny Day in Glasgow - Crushin': This new one from Sea When Absent is all subtle ecstatic waves.
Beth Orton - Bamboo (River Come Down): Another track from that quirky Son of Rogues Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs & Chanteys comp.
Datassette vs Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill: Was passed this from a friend, and I really think we all needed this in our lives.
Death Cab For Cutie - Amputations
Death Cab For Cutie - Bend To Squares
Death Cab For Cutie - Your Bruise: So yeah I am continuing with my dive in to the Death Cab catalogue, so here are some highlights from Something About Airplanes.
Dinosaur Jr. - Now The Fall
Dinosaur Jr. - Ricochet: Dinosaur Jr are such an incredible institution that got even better as they got older. These 2 great tracks come from a 7" single, and are both winners.
Merdarahta - Dusk: Saw this band live and holy shit they were amazing. A perfect blend of dark metal and drone. This recording here doesn't quite capture it all, but I can't recommend them enough.
Quasimoto - Greenery (instrumental)
Quasimoto - Life Is... (instrumental)
Quasimoto - Players of the Game (instrumental): The thing with Quas is that…. Yeah OK you know what the thing is. That's why Further Instrumentals is such a great ride sometimes.
Speedy Ortiz - Bigger Party: So who'd have thought the Adult Swim singles program could be so good?
Tim Hecker - Amps, Drugs, Mellotron: Oh yes, it's that good. Shocked face.
Warpaint - Billie Holiday: A lovely little cover tribute.
White Lung - Down It Goes
White Lung - Drown With The Monster
White Lung - Lucky One: Deep Fantasy is such a powerhouse of an album. It's like when you first discovered grunge in 1992 and were like fuck yes, let's do this hard. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

MP3 blog: 2014/08/12
blog 2014/08/12 - the days we know are all just nostalgia now
Crumbling away your childhood: http://thetastates.com/mp3s/blog/blog20140812.zip
2222 - Moments Of Clarity: This is MY STYLE of dubstep goodness.
Arve Henriksen - Bird's-eye-view
Arve Henriksen - Jump Cut: I've been stumbling through a bunch of Henriksen's discography and I think my favourite is 2004's Chiaroscuro. Some of his other stuff meanders a bit towards nowhere, but the textural meditations of this record really call to me.
Busdriver - Ego Death ft Aesop Rock & Danny Brown: ALLLLLll over the place, and who knows if the elements gel, but each taken separately is pretty great.
Doyeq - Thank You: I love glitch beats with classical piano. It's a classic taste like peanut butter and chocolate. AND THEN THE STRINGS? Oh my this track is just incredible.
Echaskech - Anomie
Echaskech - Voyager: Origin is some wonderful IDM glory.
Lechuga Zafiro - Isla De Flores (Atrapamboril Mix): Unnnf all over this one. AND IT HAS ELEPHANTS.
Lily and the Tigers - Honey: Lovely bluesy barrom folk from the album The Hand You Deal Yourself.
Mahendra Kapoor & Suresh Wadekar - Sada Vasda Raje Punjab (Uproot Andy RMX)
Mulatu Astatke vs. K'naan ft Mos Def - America (Uproot Andy RMX): 2 MORE CLASSICS from Uproot Andy.
Simian Mobile Disco - A Form Of Change: Epic tech from the masters.
Skating Polly - Alabama Movies: Loving this playful rock screech from the new album Fuzz Steilacoom.
Ulrich Schnauss - A Long Way to Fall
Ulrich Schnauss - Ten Years: Blissout ending with my 2 favourites from last year's A Long Way to Fall

MP3 blog 2014/08/05
blog 2014/08/05 - float on and up
The world is upside down but so are we: http://thetastates.com/mp3s/blog/blog20140805.zip
Chihei Hatakeyama & Hakobune - Slightly Near (excerpt)
Chihei Hatakeyama & Hakobune - Vibrant Color (excerpt): 2 little peaks in to 3 of the cloud-state worlds on the new album It Is, It Isn’t. Blissout newagey guitar ambient forever.
De La Soul - Dilla Plugged In
De La Soul - Marvin Jaye: De La dropped the free mixtape Smell The DA.I.S.Y. this year, reworking a bunch of their old raps with Dilla beats. Get in the groove.
Katamari Damacy vs Kanye West - Can't Tell Me Anything (Team Teamwork mashup): OK this isn't the best mashup ever, but given it has the Katamari theme, it's the flagship and can't be missed.
Lathe - Nobody's Fault But Mine: Incredible soaring track from the EP "II", availble on bandcamp. Highly recommended.
M83, Anthony Gonzalez & Joseph Trapanese - Oblivion ft Susanne Sundfor (Oblivion OST)
M83, Anthony Gonzalez & Joseph Trapanese - Raven Rock (Oblivion OST)
M83, Anthony Gonzalez & Joseph Trapanese - Waking Up (Oblivion OST): So yeah, I definitely listen to more soundtracks than watch movies. Is that odd? Anyways I definitely had to check this out for the M83 tip, because we all know that epic 80s pop should easily be able to meld in to soundtrack territory.
Michael Jackson - Beat It (acapella demo): This is fricking ridiculoid. MJ's multi-tracked acapella demo ideas for Beat It. WHAT. THE. FUCK. This is incredible.
m² - Deus Sol Invictus
m² - Heliogabal II: Heliogabal is a whirlwind of an album. Luiscious crunchy textures and dark corridors, with only a smattering of occassional beats for familiarity. This is a dark headtrip, and highly recommended.
The Second Hand Marching Band - This Is The Story: All bouncey happy twee indie pop, from A Hurricane, A Thunderstorm.
Thomas Feiner, Fyfe Dangerfield, Robbie Wilson - The Rainbow (Talk Talk cover): OK OK OK, finally, the last great track from the collection of Talk Talk covers…
