MP3 blog 2009/10/27

blog 2009/10/27 - these days are scarce and the moments so precious

There might be some gaps in my blogging schedule, so of course who knows the world may crack and fray and fall away to time.
Or, maybe some girl blogging regularly isn't such a big deal.

Either way, I'm here, I'm now, and it's time for another bucket of musical slurry.

04 Song X_256K:  HELP ME OUT A BIT!  I got this great mp3 randomly.  No idea where.  But it's super and I love it and have no idea who it is.
Any help please?

Amos The Transparent - Greater Than Consequence:  The new EP is entitled "My, What Big Teeth You Have..." and for those that have been waiting, just suck it up and enjoy this sucker on repeat.
Amos The Transparent - Lemons, aka (BigFishLittlePond):  Great Canadiana-CBC-ready folk rock blissout.  Recommended.
http://www.amosthetransparent.com/

Azeda Booth - Samoan Girls:  The new LP is Tubtrek and it boasts a clever fusion of the go-to indie shuffle sound, but with some delicious IDM underpinnings and actually talented singing.
Azeda Booth - Well (Refilled And Set In Sand):  Repent ye Animal Collective spawn, here is a band that digs a bit deeper in the scene and pulls together a number of grin-inducing elements in a somewhat unique and joyful way.  Recommended.
http://www.azedabooth.com/

Bat For Lashes - Siren Song (Live At Shepherd’s Bush Empire):  Sometimes when you hear an album the vocals will blow you away, but then when you see them live they are struggling to come close to the range they had on disc.  That is not the case here.  To prove the doubters wrong, the single for Pearl's Dream included some live tracks, and this one especially shows off this woman's sheer talent and beauty.  Repent, haters, repent!
http://www.batforlashes.com/

Beck - Youthless (acoustic):  Beck has always produced like a mad man, but shortly after his great rock album Modern Guilt from last year, he returned with a set of acoustic takes on all of his songs.  Modern Guilt Acoustic proves the continued strength of his songwriting.
http://www.beck.com/

Bell Orchestre - Icicles, Bicycles (Kid Koala Remix):  The remix album!  The remix album is a dinosaur of the 90s that still lingers onward, now applied to the postrocky soundscapes of Bell Orchestre, under the name "Who Designs Nature's How".  It's not all gold, but the big surprise is the glorious and tender reworking by none other than Kid Koala.  There are no breakbeats here, only a careful attention to detail and narrative.  This song is pretty damn beautiful.
http://www.bellorchestre.com/
http://nufonia.com/

Broken Note - Crux:  This single came out in 2008, but is still hot and underplayed imho.  Loving the bobbing bass, loving the sniper shot sounds, and the out-of-context-intense movie snippets.
http://www.myspace.com/brokennoteuk

Danny Byrd - Gold Rush:  Some new sweetness from Danny Byrd.  Wonderfully affected vocals, and some Jon Kennedy-esque old-man-music style samples.  Perfect.
http://www.myspace.com/dannybyrduk

Geoff K - Jack It Up (HeavyFeet Remix):  All hail the awkward bass magic of HeavyFeet!
http://www.myspace.com/djidentification
http://www.myspace.com/heavyfeet

Jay Reatard - Faking It:  Reatard's new album is Watch Me Fall, and has been getting rave reviews all around.  I'm not super in to it... yet.   Give me a few more relistens.
Jay Reatard - It Ain't Gonna Save Me:  Right off the bat these two tracks come shining out of the snotty mess.  Rock heads should take note.
http://www.jayreatard.com/

Jenny Owen Youngs - Good Day (Jukebox The Ghost cover):  I might be wrong, the covering might be the other way around, but I this is just a great pop song. all around.
http://www.jennyowenyoungs.com/
http://www.myspace.com/jukeboxtheghost

Karen Dalton - In The Evening (It's So Hard To Tell Who's Going To Love You The Best):  From the album It's So Hard To Tell Who's Going To Love You The Best comes this totally enchanting blues number.  I just picture her dueting with Antony....  ahhh.  That's a good reason to die.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karen_Dalton

Scratch - Let's Go ft Peedi Crakk:  Another hot hiphop track I really know nothing about.  Why do you expect me to know everything?  I just listen to everything.

The O'Darling - Mooncat:  The lightly pulsiung piano evokes old jazz ballads, but the steady drone of it and the soft accents of the horns firmly entrenches it in that lovely world of dark folk indie.
http://www.myspace.com/theodarling

Various Production - Tricycle:    Who doesn't love tricycles?  No one, that's right.  And who doesn't love Various Production?  That's right again: no one.
http://www.myspace.com/various

MP3 blog 2009/10/19

blog 2009/10/19 - Don't regret this moment, you're better for it all.

Aphrodite - Crazy Diamond:  MEGA CHEESE ALERT!  But oh how could I resist?  Aphrodite drops his 2-step breakin business on some old Floyd business too
http://www.myspace.com/djaphrodite

Au Revoir Simone - Shadows:  "Still Night, Still Light" is the latest from these synthpop reductionists.  I'd be lying if I said I loved it all, but a lot of it grew on me, with this track as the standout.  Reccomended for connoseuirs of esentialist girl synth pop.
http://aurevoirsimone.com/

Bassnectar - Boombox (Bassnectar & Ill Gates Remix):  A new full length from bass-mavens Bassnectar, this track teaming up with Canadian breaks superstar Ill Gates (aka Phat Conductor!).  The full length Cozza Frenzy is slamming.
Bassnectar - Cozza Frenzy ft Seasunz:  This is a hot single right here.  Also check the 12" for the Z-Trip mix.  Enthusiastically recommended if you want something to shuffle with your Buraka Som Siesta album.
http://www.bassnectar.net/
http://www.myspace.com/thephatconductor

Fish & Chips Vs. Feel Good Productions - Bouncing in Draut (Dons Dbn Radio Edit):  A super jazzy number that kind of just comes out of nowhere, and leaves shortly after.  A great little dancefloor shaker.

Flight Of The Conchords - Too Many Dicks (On The Dance Floor):  The new FOTC record is "I Told You I Was Freaky", but honestly you can probably survive off the youtube videos alone.
Flight Of The Conchords - We're Both In Love With A Sexy Lady:  The deadpan quick delivery really plays well in this track.  But still, probably won't last into the double-digit of listens.  :)
http://www.conchords.co.nz/

Lake - Gravel:  A fabulously rich track that unfolds like a storytime adventure.
http://www.laketheband.com/Home/LAKE.html

Pamela Brennan - Another Lonely Day:  From the "One Hundred Photographs" record, another example of great Canadian straight-up folk.
http://www.myspace.com/pamelabrennan

Peggy Sue And The Pictures - Pupils Blink:  I have no idea about this band, but their LP is The Body Parts and from 2008, and I just love the exuberance and the accordion.  Oh so good.
http://www.myspace.com/peggywho

Port O'Brien - I Woke Up Today:  Oh those boys, with their screaming and their shouting and hey put down that cookware!
http://portobrien.com/

Rae Spoon and Alex Decoupigny - U Bahn:  Rae Spoon teams up with multimedia artist Decoupigny and produces a short album on the Berlin experience.  Part sound-art, part folk, part electro, part country.  All goodness.
Rae Spoon and Alex Decoupigny - Won't Get Lost (Berlin Fever):  Highly recommended, and you can even get the whole album here: http://djcpi.blogspot.com/2009/10/rae-spoon-and-alex-decoupigny-what-are.html
http://www.raespoon.com/
http://www.alexandredecoupigny.com/

Richard Skelton - Stake:  Taken from "Marking Time - Preservation", the strings here are haunting and full.  One day I will be rich enough to have this guy perform in front of me while I lay on the ground in a puddle of serotonin.
http://www.myspace.com/richardskelton

Shantel - Bucovina Original:  The guitar track of this song produced the house smash Bucovina, but the original is pretty freaking rad too.
Shantel - Good Night Amanes:  I won't go so far out as to recommend you snap up the full length album, but these two tracks are undeniably original and awesome.  Dedicated to the DJ K!
http://www.bucovina.de/

Simian Mobile Disco - Cruel Intentions ft Beth Ditto (Joker Remix):  You know what's awesome?  Simian Mobile Disco.  You know what's even better?  Joker on the hot hot remix.  You know what's best?  A little BETH FUCKING DITTO in the mix.
http://www.simianmobiledisco.co.uk/
http://www.myspace.com/thejokerproductions

Tegan & Sara - Arrow:  Sainthood is the new record and will be available October 27th.  If you're a Tegan & Sara fan like me, this album is a MUST BUY.
Tegan & Sara - The Ocean:  It's by no means a musical innovation of the decade.  In fact, it sounds mostly interchangable with every other Tegan And Sara record.  But you know what that means:  Amazing pop rock tunes with ultimate singability that will annex space on every driving mixtape you make for the next year.
http://www.teganandsara.com/

The Flaming Lips - See The Leaves:  I am not ashamed to admit that I stopped listening to Flaming Lips after Zaireeka.  I coveted that 4-disc set with glee and loved it, and it was the perfect time to let go of a great band, because hey why the hell are those Phish-smelling groupies hanging around at their shows?  Get out while the getting is good.
The Flaming Lips - Silver Trembling Hands:  But not I have come back to them with their new album Embryonic and it is a wonderful thing.  Ressurecting the creative energy of Zaireeka, and mining some of their pre-She Don't Use Jelly psych days, this album is still a swirl of sounds for me.  I haven't come up with a solid interpretation of it, but all I know is there is so much goodness here.  Get the 2 CD version, some of the bonus tracks are even better than the main disc.

Pierre Henry - Variations Pour Une Porte Et Un Soupir (1970)

Pierre Henry - Variations Pour Une Porte Et Un Soupir (1970)
(english: Variations For A Door And A Sigh)

(Posted by request for Alice Rabbit, whose blog you should definitely check out)

I have a few records from this label in my collection. I got rid of most of my records, but kept a number of the important ones to hang on the wall.
I think there are other rips floating around, but this is my own rip from vinyl. 320 kbps. The tracks are not separated, just side A / side B.

If you have others, please post them! I will post the rest of mine eventually.

I think for modern music heads, beyond the fact Pierre Henry is a superstar of electornic music, the album was famously/notoriously sampled (heavily) by DJ Vadim.
Finally, you can layer additional creaks and squeaks over his beats!

Rae Spoon and Alex Decoupigny - What Are You Waiting For? (Worauf Wartest Du?) (2009)

(click photo to download album)

Canadian singer-songwriter Rae Spoon has been sneaking off to Europe for extended periods of time (Learning about electro and skinny jeans, no doubt!) and now he has teamed up with multi-media artist Alexandre Decoupigny for a new project.

We've been leaked the audio for a new art project happening on October 15th, 2009, and we wanted to share it with you all because it's pretty damn fabulous. It combines folk rock with electronics and sound art.
Musicians and sound artists Alexandre Decoupigny & Rae Spoon will be playing songs at Schlossstrasse Station on 15th October from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. about the dreams and ambitions of Underground passengers. Their performance and CD "What are you waiting for?" is the result of a careful inquiry into the desires and wishes of those waiting on platforms. Produced in collaboration with the BVG bus driver Georg Burkard and the former BVG engineer Wolfgang Adam and numerous members of the public.

MP3 blog 2009/10/13

blog 2009/10/13 - The days are darker but the fires still burn your cuff-links raw.

Def Jux is back with a 2009 sampler that has some decent heat on it.
Def Jux Presents 4 is worth the low-budget entry fee, but as with any label sampler, you'll be trimming the fat around the singles.
Despot - Look Alive:  I hadn't heard much by this guy before, so he is definitely the most exciting discovery on the sampler.  Great flow, engrossing beat, fun chant-back chorus, no cheesy cringe lines, it's got it all.
EL-P - How To Serve Man (The Meanest Thing I'd Never Say):  El-P has issues.  Man.  I don't know, is he fighting with Slug to reveal how poor of a track record with women he has?  Anyways, I wouldn't fuck 'em, but at least El-P still has his A-Game on.  And I love the pulsing synths that prove just how far ahead of the game El-P was, and how much style Kanye West production really owes El-P.
Hail Mary Mallon - D-Up ft Aesop Rock, Rob Sonic & DJ Big Wiz:  This is a more straight-head posse cut for the Def Jux crew, but of course that means that it is still light-years ahead of most other jams on the market.
http://www.myspace.com/despotroast
http://www.myspace.com/elproducto

Friends In Bellwoods 2 is a massive compilation that is centered around the house owned by Ohbijou members.  They got all of their indie superstar friends together and produce these comps to support a local food bank, proving just how exceptionally awesome people they are.
The comp is a must-have.  The amount of amazing tracks in here for the low low entry price is a super value.  AND you get to do a good deed and support a charity.  HOW AWESOME ARE YOU?
Sure, the collection is no Dark Was The Night.  That comp was 85% killer.  A loving producer should have edited the track list from 40 songs down to at most 30, but we're the digital generation and little speedbumps shouldn't get us down.  Highly recommended.
Buy the album, or at the very least donate at least $10 directly to your own local food bank at the next available opportunity.  These 4 songs alone are worth that.
Evening Hymns - Cedars
Forest City Lovers - Minneapolis
Kate Rogers - The Same Party
Ohbijou - An Ode To An End

Akron/Family - River:  I haven't seen the new album around, but this new track is from their 2009 "Set 'Em Wild, Set 'Em Free".  These guys spawned a new wave of indie hippy rock, and it delights me to no end that they have moved away from their bastard spawn and found an tweaked and innovative approach to the same ole ball game.  I like this a lot.
http://www.akronfamily.com/

Blake Miller - Tomorrow Sorrow:  A great understated folk song.  From the album "Burn Tape".
http://www.myspace.com/iamblakemiller

Brightblack Morning Light - Oppressions Each:  The album is "Motion To Rejoin", and I missed it first time around last year.  It continues the echoed out smooth stoner bliss that I love about these guys.
http://www.thebrightblackmorninglight.com/

Chrissy Murderbot - The Limelight:  A great little ragga bounce number.  It grooves perfectly, where most producers would just overload this sucker with bassey paunch.
http://www.murderbot.com/

Ellie Goulding - Guns + Horses:  Ellie Goulding is kind of sort of rocking my world these days.  In a big way.  Her subtle trills, by-the-power-of-Bjork-Skull power, and the absolutely infectious songwriting just has he all swooning.
http://www.myspace.com/elliegoulding

Lauren Flax - You've Changed ft Sia (Christopher Just & Tombstone's We Change Too Remix):  This is some SWEET joyous deep house.  Old school styles all the way, with a modern production edge.  Delicious!
http://www.myspace.com/laurenflax

OK, don't laugh.  These next 2 tracks are from the Fame soundtrack.  Yes, the Fame re-release movie thingy.
I know I know...  I had to check it out, I couldn't help myself.  No way in hell I'll see the movie, but I'm a music junkie and must dig everywhere I can...
Raney Shockne ft Eddie Wakes - I Put A Spell On You:  Neo-soul downtempo.  Nice and chill.
Raney Shockne ft Stella Moon - Street Hustlin':  I can only imagine the cheeseball scene this accompanies, but these 84 seconds are pretty slamming, even if an almost self-parodying ripoff of M.I.A..
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0774306/

Sawako - Incense Of Voice:  From the album "Hum", more Sawako with that patented lush drone littered with feminine chirps.  When you need a good comedown, Sawako is there for you, pillow in hand.
http://www.troncolon.com/

Shugo Tokumaru - Rum Hee:  If you were around here last year you might remember my unbridled enthusiasm for Shugo Tokumaru.  HOLY SHIT A NEW ALBUM.  I don't have the CD yet, but this is the title track that has been leaked and it does not disappoint.  Like a Japanese Sufjan Stevens, Tokumaru impresses and delights me to no end.
http://www.shugotokumaru.com/

Taken By Trees - Greyest Love Of All:  The 2009 album "East Of Eden" is both gorgeous and refined.  Stylistically drawing from The Concretes, early Mum, Shugo Tokumaru and a pit of instrumental creativity that is seldom plumbed these days, this album is just great.
Taken By Trees - To Lose Someone:  If you can get behind these two tracks and love that delicate acoustic folk sound, this album is highly recommended.

MP3 blog 2009/10/07

blog 2009/10/07 - Caitlyn's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.  MP3 blog version.

Owie.  I hurt.  I woke with a terrible charlie-horse and now my back is sore.  So, I might be a tad grumpy for this blog!

But that shouldn't spoil the fun, because there is some simply delicious work here.

Bat For Lashes - Use Somebody (Kings of Leon cover):  A beautiful and seductive pop number, as performed on BBC radio.
http://www.batforlashes.com/

Bell - Magic Tape:  This track has a great cacophonous logic that just comes across as alluring and delicious.  Like CocoRosie mixing it up with Feadz, with Sufjan Stevens at the boards.  Great stuff.
http://www.myspace.com/whoisbell

Calvin Harris - Ready For The Weekend (Dave Spoon Remix):  Total party cheese, but undeniably good.  Dave Spoon does a good job of limiting the vocal presence, accentuating the glam-house drop.  As predicted, the mediocre album will have a few juicey remixes.
http://www.calvinharris.co.uk/
http://www.davespoon.co.uk/

Dusk & Blackdown - Confusion:  Dusk & Blackdown have released a flurry of great singles in the past 2 years, and this is one of my favourites.  Sweet tablas programmed on dubstep bass, mixed in with loose Hindi vox.
http://www.myspace.com/keysoundrecordings

Gnaw - Feelers:  As someone who doesn't really listen to metal, but listens to a lot of Japanese noise, it is rare tracks like this that have the texture and energy and total atmosphere to really suck me in.  Drama-queen noise metal at it's best.
http://www.myspace.com/gnaw666

Hey Rosetta! - A Thousand Suns:  These are from the Polaris short-listed Into Your Lungs, from 2008.   Great straight-up CBC-radio-friendly Can-con pop-rock hyphenated-words-goodness!
Hey Rosetta! - I've Been Asleep For A Long, Long Time:  There was much outrage among fans that they didn't win, but short-listed seems appropriate for sure.
http://www.heyrosetta.com/

jj - Ecstasy:  The 2009 album is "jj n° 2", and it has that lofi electropop aesthetic that Telepathe tried to capitalize on, but the songs here are much more coherent.
jj - My Love:  There is a bit of a sleepytime stoner vibe on here, but it all comes together quite tightly.   Recommended for fans of Beirut, Telepathe and Masha Qrella.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jj_%28band%29

Kyza - Go (Bar 9 Remix):  An incredible remix work here, Bar 9 has been cleaning house in 2009.  Some grinding dubstep that doesn't move your hand to turn the volume down just a nudge.  Slamming.
http://www.myspace.com/bar9uk

Lusine - Baffle:  The new Lusine LP is "A Certain Distance" and it is quite remarkable.  Like the new Modeselektor, I wasn't in to the whole thing, but I am a DJ and have a hard time not just cherrypicking the highlights.
Lusine - Gravity  Wonderful IDM/minimal/electro, with a number of great guest vocalists on it.  Very much recommended, if you're a fan of Modeselektor, Morr Music, Styrofoam, etc.
http://www.lusineweb.com/

Martina Topley Bird - Lying:  Another great track from the Quixotic album
http://www.martinatopleybird.com/

Sufjan Stevens - Movement I, In The Countenance Of Kings:  The BQE is a modern-day Vangelis masterpiece, delivered by one of indie-rock's most surprising composers.
Sufjan Stevens - Movement III, Linear Tableau With Intersecting Surprise:  Lush and flamboyant orchestration and tight playing, but not the fun and stirring evocation Sufjan fans might be craving.  Either way, this album is the best contemporary classical roadway tribute album yet!
http://www.sufjan.com/

The Weather Station - March:  For some reason I think of Annie Lennox doing gothic barn-raising revivalist music.  Don't ask.
http://www.myspace.com/theweatherstationband

MP3 blog 2009/10/02

Oh hold up a minute, back the fuck up, sit down and listen.  Big news!  I have a new mix out now.

You've all been waiting oh so patiently, and now I am back with a thick slice of downtempo grooves.

download:  http://thetastates.com/mp3s/CPI_-_Particle_1000_0001.mp3

40 minutes, 93 MB

Wake up Sunday, put this on, and go back to bed and make-out in the morning sunbeams.

This mix goes back to a number of classic tracks I had on vinyl, but never got around to using in a mix.

It has been 9 years since Chinchillin' first came out!  And 11 years since Poetry Is For Faeries.  I still receive the most fan messages from those two, particularly because they were traded heavily on soulseek and napster back in the day.
Well, 11 years later and we're going strong.  Thanks for all of the kind words.

Anyways, on to the blog.  Maybe it's my serotonin speaking, but I ESPECIALLY love this blog entry.

Allá - Es Tiempo:  Wait for it... wait for it...  Just when you're terrified of ending up with another indie cliché Animal Collective style shamble-song, the shambles (which never truly shamble, but build logically) give birth to a near perfect indie rock track.  Ecstatic!  Only the 2nd or 3rd time through did I actually realize she was singing in Spanish.  I haven't heard the full length, but it's from 2008 and called "Es Tiempo" and you should check it out.

An Horse - Camp Out:  Sometimes twee bands will tune their guitars just like Sleater-Kinney and have to vent off some of their aggro/emo tendencies.  This is not a bad thing!
An Horse - Horizons:  These tracks are from the 2008 album "Rearrange Beds", which I can only assume refers to either summer camp accommodations, or partner swapping.  Or both?  Anyways, this isn't fully formed perfection, but it is some darn fun grrrlpoppunk.

Arms and Sleepers - Butterflycatcher:  I love chime breakdowns.  Sometimes I just imagine a band made up entirely of triangle players and a beautiful singer.  Well this has more going on than that, but is just as wonderful.  Almost.

Bat For Lashes have such a fully formed gem with Two Suns.  Building with what at a glance is a synthpop legacy, the composition itself actually owes more to mid-90s Sonic Youth and Mogwai than any Ladytron revival.
This album is an epic emotional adventure movie, with all of the grit and cynicism of adulthood recontextualizing what was once an innocent paradise.
Highly recommended.

Broken Records - Nearly Home:  There is something about sentimentality that is just a euphoric drug.  I keep a list of songs that would be good for my funeral march, and this one has all of the elements I look for.  If you're gonna die, do it with class.

Butch - Amelie:  Awww yeah!   Minimal techo with some jazzy keyboard work!  Good on you Butch, eschewing your typical dark tendencies to get wild up in the place with a sexy funk creeper beat.

Cardopusher - Everything Is A New Surprise:  The least surprising thing about Cardopusher is his awesomeness.  NO MORE BORING STEPPER BEATS!  Fusing the fun of Kid 606 and (some of the) complexity of Venetian Snares in to a far more straight-ahead framework, this producer is just wonderful.

Fuck Buttons - Flight Of The Feathered Serpent:  The Fuck Buttons are a force to be reckoned with.  When the Boredoms went trancy and hippy at the end of the 90s, they planted seeds.  And years later, the Fuck Buttons emerge as one of the few bands that take that 2nd-wave-Boredoms freakout glory and spin it in to something jaw-dropping, and not just something that makes people want to slap them (Holy Fuck I'm looking at your way).  With a strong meticulous sensibility that reminds of the amazing Battles LP, this is one that will peak on a number of best-of-2009 lists.  Highly recommended for indie hipster fucks everywhere.
Fuck Buttons - Surf Solar (7'' Edit):  From the Surf Solar 7'' EP, this version brings down the 10+ minute original in to a single-sized morsel.  Enjoy, but be sure to check the full length version on the LP eventually.

Hauschka - Rode Null:  More contemporary instrumental music on this blog edition!  From the 2008 album Ferndorf, Hauschka is a big part of the Fat Cat Record rennaissance.   Fat Cat were mavens in the late 90s, releasing quality IDM-cum-postrock fare.  Now that we are a generation past Tortoise, it's time for bands like Hauschka to shine.

Mastodon - Oblivion:  OMFG!  MASTODON!  Wow, I am shocked how much I like this album.  It's like a cross between Alice In Chains, Ozzy Osbourne and Soundgarden, with a dash of Dragon Force flair tossed in for good measure.  I'm not a metal head, I don't listen to much at all, but this... this!  It's everything glorious about that melodic 1994 grunge-metal production, but 15 years later.  The album is Crack The Skye, a must for any metal fan on your xmas gift list.

I listen to lots of music.  I have automated processes set up to harvest me random music, and I dive in to folders of thousands of tracks I didn't specifically choose to hear, and from that well I dredge up a lot of incredible surprises.
The works by So Percussion are on of those surprises and delights.  I hadn't heard of them before, but they seem associated with the Bang On A Can collective.  These tracks are from the 2006 album "Amid the Noise", and redefine our perceptions on percussion ensembles.
With a depth and intricacy that is beyond any syncopated drum machine, this LIVE ENSEMBLE creates stellar rhythmworks that many producers couldn't even put on their MIDI trackers.
Highly recommended for fans of live drumming, Taiko music, Steve Reich, and Aphex Twin.

Women - Black Rice (Green Go Remix):  I wasn't super grooving to the Women album, but this remix does a great job of distilling their goods in to a funky fresh package.

Well, 11 years later and we're still going strong.  Thanks for all of the kind words.
