blog 2014/02/25 - all say yay
think of you ever: http://thetastates.com/mp3s/blog/blog20140225.zip
Bonnie 'Prince' Billy & Angel Olsen - After I Made Love To You
Bonnie 'Prince' Billy & Angel Olsen - Three Questions: There's not a lot of love for the Now Here's My Plan EP, perhaps because it dredges old songs in new arrangements and people have some kind of FEELING about Oldham? Whatevs, I have feelings for Angel Olsen, she gets equal billing in my books.
Crnkn - Heart: Pitch down to the crushing sadness.
Different Sleep - Get Ahead: We've got your sullen bass, step right up.
Downliners Sekt - Benz: This is a soundtrack for when we are going to drag a good time out of you.
Emancipator - Natural Cause
Emancipator - Valhalla: Appropriately moody/grooving downtempo from an album called Dusk to Dawn.
GoldLink - The Heart: Woah, daddy issues. Tragic tragic daddy issues. Ouch.
Haciendo el Mal - Complicado: From the self-titled album, again I have no idea what is going on here but I am all smiles.
Koloto - Antares: That back-and-forth glitch filter makes this a deliriously happy bit of IDM sweetness.
Lullatone - The Biggest Pile Of Leaves You Have Ever Seen: Prepackaged carefree whimsy. Someone buy this for a bumper on your TV show about an adorable carefree hitchhiker.
Mt. Wolf - Life Size Ghosts (Catching Flies Remix): Oooo did I mention I loved pitched in vox?
Taylor Deupree - Sleepover: If you love warm textural ambience I really recommend this album, Lost In The Humming Air (Music Inspired By Harold Budd). Budd has had a fairly low profile since the 80s, but his influencing tendrils shine here.
The Haxan Cloak - Excavation (Part 2)
The Haxan Cloak - Mara: Excavation provides that sinister bass sound you always knew you needed.
World Class Art Thieves - All The Time: Fuck that darkness, time to get up and dance!
Xenia Rubinos - Ultima: Love the acapella scats all on this one.
Zak Downtown - City's Ours: Post-West world-conquering ish.

MP3 blog 2014/02/19
blog 2014/02/19 - all your accolades fade
so deep you can see the wobble: http://thetastates.com/mp3s/blog/blog20140219.zip
Alina Baraz & Galimatias - Pretty Thoughts: The first that Galimatias appears on, this is just straight up smooth soul bass.
Farben - Swinn Off: I love mininmal tech that has awkard sounds melded with a warm kit, that invites you in but then revels in it's minor absurdities.
Four Tet - Ever Never (The Ninetys Remix): EVEN FOURTET IS TRAP NOW YOOOOOOOO.
Galimatias & Sorrow - Subside: Smoothed out mind swirling downtempo
Goat - Goatman
Goat - Run To Your Mama: World Music is a Northern European psycedelic swirl that might as well have been recorded in a San Jose basement or Tokyo high-rise: it is just love for the psych and fuzz and pomp. Recommended.
Hashim B - Tokyo To LA Steez: HNNNNGGG that taiko beat just kills me omg this track is wonderful.
James Ferraro - E 7
James Ferraro - Flamboyant
James Ferraro - SO N2U: After the Trecartin-infused masterpiece of Far Side Virtual, Ferraro cuts a rather accessible record of synth beats called Sushi and it is a great compromise between the warring factions in his head. Recommended
Jessica Rotter & Emily Colombier - Animal & Stay(mashup): Dual acoustic rendition mashup, GO!
John Surman - Kentish Hunting (Lady Margaret's Air): From The Amazing Adventures of Simon Simon, this is some storytelling jazz shit right here that takes you right in to the book.
Neil Halstead - Digging Shelters: Bittwersweet somber folk from the record Palindrome Hunches.
Paces - Julian (813 Remix)
Paces - Open Up Your Eyes (Chiefs Remix): This guy has the contemporary bass wrapped up in his funfur rave pants and holy shit he brought a strobe light a---
Perfect Pussy - Ii: A perfect storm.
Phoenix - Entertainment (Pyramid Remix): OK so I didn't get in to the last Phoenix album, but as long as chop it up and mix it in to the sauce it tastes pretty good.
The Eastern Sea - The Match: An epic chant to the wilderness!
Wet - No Lie (Noah Breakfast Remix ft Spank Rock)
Wet - U Da Best: These 2 tracks are perfect for their own special reasons and I am just going to roll around in them for a while.
Xxyyxx - Witching Hour: Our favourite chromosonal configuration will smooth it out at the end.

MP3 blog 2014/02/12
blog 2014/02/12- yes, good job, you did it, now again.
The chime signals your arbitrary reward: http://thetastates.com/mp3s/blog/blog20140212.zip
Beyoncé - Superpower ft Frank Ocean: All the glory.
Califone - The Orchids: The best Califone songs spin a tapestry around me. A tapestry I wrap around myself. OK, I just snuggle under blankets with them.
Cepia - Ithaca: From the 2008 album Ghostly Swim, the sounds remind of
Cuff The Duke - Cold Blooded Old Times (Smog cover)
Cuff The Duke - Diamond Sea (Sonic Youth cover): The whole of it doesn't entice me, but these two covers from In Our Time are 2 of my favourite songs ever, and I always want a good go at them.
DC Zee - Whirlwind Booty: BOOTY BOOTY BOOTY BOOTY
Marble - L.L (Ta-ku Remix): Ta-ku rocks my breakbeat world oh so much.
Mississippi Fred Mcdowell - John Henry (live): A great track from the classic Live At the Gaslight from 2000, which ended up being his final performance.
Mouse On Mars - Vax: WOW is an awkwa\rd assemblage of beats that works itself out like a psychedelic mixtape.
Philip Glass - Knee 1 (Nosaj Thing Remix)
Philip Glass - Music in Twelve Parts, Part 1 (My Great Ghost Remix): I really enjoy the Rework: Philip Glass Remixed album, and you just might too. Do you enjoy Philip Glass? Do you enjoy contemporary electronic beat producers? If you answered yes to both of those questions, it's really hard to ignore this release. If you said no to either, then shuffle along. The album isn't a perfect whole, but it's up there with the Tortoise remixes album from a decade ago in terms of an important body of work being interpreted in such a way that reveals a pulse-taking of today's producers. Recommended.
Ryan Teague - Cell Cycle
Ryan Teague - Games for Two
Ryan Teague - Tetramery: If you enjoy the classic pulsings of Glass you might also really love this Teague album Field Drawings. The 21st century rhythmic practices are all over these compositions. Recommended.
Sleepyhead - My Lyf: The skittery footwerk scene only brings me in when I feel like it's tied my brain in to knots like an oldschool U-Ziq track, and this one pulls on that for sure.
St. Lucia - All Eyes On You (Pacific Air Remix): This comes together so simply, but it's all the pop ecstasy you demand.
Tul-Pa - Dazed: I wanna be sedated and this is what I will count away with.
Wild Ones - Paia (My Body Remix): A track after my own heart.
Zelda - Link's Awakening Sword Search (Janski Beeeats Remix): More gamer-core betas and HEY, did you know they made Zelda games on systems other than the NES? Huh, the more you know…

MP3 blog 2014/02/04
blog 2014/02/04 - it's a little party and you can't go just yet
This part of us will never die: http://thetastates.com/mp3s/blog/blog20140204.zip
Alina Baraz & Galimatias - Make You Feel (remix): OK so I lost who is the producer on this, but urgency dictates that you need to be seduced Right. This. Second.
Dillon Francis - Without You ft T.E.E.D (ETC!ETC! X Jesse Slayter Remix): Sick bubble pop explodes all over the place.
Drake vs Baauer & RL Grime - Infinite Starts (Hood Internet mashup): This pairing will just kill it on the dance floor.
Michalis Moschoutis - Act I: A subtlely shifting inner whirwind of acoustic bliss.
Nitty Scott - Language Arts: Love the 94 sounds boom bap flute beat, so good.
Noah D - Roll Out (The Jeep Remix): That squelch box bass just kills it for me. What a classic breakbeat track needs. Now cut this up.
Robag Wruhme - Donnerkuppel
Robag Wruhme - Polch Dutto: Sometimes minimal tech is full of so much elation stuck between the clicks and whirrs, and like Tiefschwartz, Wruhme has that formula nailed to magical perfection.
Robin Thicke - Give It 2 U (Trippy Turtle Remix): I have never heard any Thicke before, so not sure if it normally has those delicious water drop click sounds, but lay on the claps and squeaky vocals and shake it!
Seams - Platz: Groove on the clicky IDM rush of it all, old school.
Slow Machete - Until Your Father Sleeps: The vocals here just reverberate through me to the base of what I know my self to be. I can't overstake how epic this makes me feel.
Son Lux - Lost It To Trying: The perfect balance of quirk and slick produced bass, wrapped in synths and horns? Oh yes sign me up. More.
Talmud Beach - How Long: The guy from Black Mountain will never be able to enter a witness protection program. Wherever he goes, his distinctive voice will summon swarms of admiring fans to his feet.
Tei Shi - M&Ms: Glorious sensual tension that you could almost touch.
The Breeders - Saints (live in Stockholm): The Breeders toured on Last Splash's re-release! Don't critique, just dance!
The Range - Loftmane: More of the dark and critical breakbeat jazz.
The Weather Station - Traveller: WS stuff seems so fragile that it could shatter any second under the weight of it's own sadness, yet always pulls through to the end. It leaves me exhausted and joyous.
Weaves - Hulahoop: We grew up on Ween too and fuck you let's smash shit and pass out.
