This might be the last year I have the time to follow music so closely. I've been looking at my "best of" lists as a way to summarize a year, and in many ways these lists become a time capsule. A lot of music comes out in any one year and there's always more to discover, so these might be the 40 that are sifted out and carried forward with enthusiasm and emotion.
I listen to albums primarily, but I do let myself delete one or two tracks on an album if they annoy me. Some albums above are on my list with the consideration of a track or two deleted, and I encourage the same. Curate your own space.
